Delegation

Who delegates to whom, and the power it moves.

Delegating gives your voting power to someone who votes regularly. You keep your tokens, and you can take your power back at any time.

How it works

Your delegation is written on the blockchain itself, so delegating is a transaction: your wallet pays a network fee (gas), once. A delegation counts only in spaces whose strategies count delegations. On the blockchain, delegations live in the Delegate Registry, a public contract many DAOs share.

  • For this space: your power goes to the delegate in this space only.
  • For every space: your power goes to the delegate in every space on that network. A delegation made for a space replaces your every-space one there.

Some tokens handle delegation themselves: holders delegate on the token's contract, and the space counts it. The Delegates tab then says so.

The Delegates tab

Each space's Delegates tab lists its delegates, ranked by the power delegated to them, or by how many delegate to them. Each row shows its delegated power and its delegators. Search finds a delegate by address or name. Delegate picks one; your wallet then confirms the transaction.

A delegate's page

A delegate's page shows the total power delegated to them, the block it was counted at, and every delegator, most power first, with when they delegated. Delegations made for every space carry an All spaces tag. The page also shows how the delegate voted.

Delegated power

Raad counts each delegation's power at a recent point of the blockchain (a block) and shows Power as of block N. While it counts, the list says Computing power… and refreshes on its own.

Statements

Delegates can say what they stand for in a statement, shown on their page.
